I s the Death in the Ray Chamber Demo scenario that is the old Gen Con Demo kit available still for download. I snagged all the Cavilers of Mars stuff during the sale and the link for isn't letting you access it that's on the Onyx Path website and forums.

Also, is there a sequel/companion game planned I'm seeing a lot of references to Venus and wonder if a Venus supplement or game may be in the works.

Have the errors in the book, and the broken index mentioned here earlier been fixed in the PDF? Or, is there at least a compiled errata for the game available now?

They're pretty much unrelated. Cavaliers is a swashbuckler on a dying world. You play Martian heroes in a weird world of ghosts, tyrants, and probably your ex. Think Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser mixed with the Three Musketeers.

I very much like this game, and am glad to have gotten it in hardcover, but that pleasure is a bit greyed because of two issues with the text.

The first is minor: putting the two page world map near the center of the book, where the binding's bulk eats up about a half-inch column of the map's middle graphic, was a clumsy layout choice. Fortunately having the PDF mitigates this.

The second problem is a more critical issue: the index is a gory disaster. It's so jumbled I at first thought it was a printing error, but it's the same in the PDF, so the cause must be the primary formatting of the text. The least of the problem are entries that were supposed to be sub-entries but almost never indented properly. The worst problem is that at least half the subjects are scattered seemingly randomly in no accordance with alphabetical or conceptual sense.

To illustrate, the first part of the "Z" section is reproduced as follows (skipping the page numbers):

My story with Cavaliers of Mars
I backed the game for a physical copy. I was excited with the setting and given the experience of Rose Bailey I was confident to get a good swashbuckler game in Mars.

I received the book and when I was ready to test the game with friends a week ago I started to read the rules with more detail.

I liked the ideas of the combat when I read the jumpstart but I was expecting some tweaks in the corebook. Having three Motivations and three Methods, I felt the combat was a game of chance and the only attribute valid was Speed beside some talents.

I decided to give it a chance and see how it works but when I was reading the talent Pistoleer I trigger a chain-reaction of frustration. Let me explain:

The talent gives you the change of reducing the Reload cost in Stunt dice. Sounds interesting but the problem is the Ranged Weapon section says reloading is automatic in the Break phase (the end of the round). So why I need stunt dice?...See more May I be losing something?

Let's see the Weapons... searching in the index: Weapons is an appendix and just a table with ~8 weapons. The text surrounding the table doesn't say nothing useful and you end with more questions like: what those columns mean? why the bow does 3 damage at distance but no other weapon, neither flintlaser do so much?

Then I found there's a section with ordinary weapons like Spider Rifle or something like that. Great! But nooo... its a description of the weapon with Benefits and Drawback but no Damage information and is not even present in the table.
At this point my frustration level was high. I posted two questions in Onyx forum and search for a community online to ask more questions: I didn’t find any facebook group and google plus recently die. In OP forum, no one answer.

I kept reading the book with the idea of trying to fill with homebrew rules the missing parts so I continued with the book. When I was reading through Skarruts, this frog-like guys, I saw the text talks about how good they're using slings and how the elite use pole slings. And I made the mistake of checking the table again to see if slings were there. It weren't.

My last try was to use the index by words. I was desperate. And then I found the index is hell. It has two level of indendation but no one edited it so its all mess. And if you try to follow it alphabetically as expected you found its all scrambled because the indentation was never completed.

The final chapter of this is me: frustrated, desperate and anger going to every place I could think to ask questions still politely. I found out more things in the game before I stop reading it like: the cavaliers (the career that provides the name of the game) has a talent named Footwork that provide an advantage if you're standing. Every career has only 3 talents and one of cavalier is about footwork when the career is about riding animals. The following problem is the text provides names about the possible mounts but I couldn't find a clear reference of how this animals are, not even the minimum description. The same for sky ships, another main item of the game.

Finally, defeated I drop the idea of gamemastering this game.

Today I went back to the forum to see if I was lucky and got answers. I found my posts were removed. I posted this story in the forum and I was banned. That's why I decided to go to every place and share this story. After this, my questions in Rose Bailey blog were removed too.

Cavaliers of Mars is an incomplete game, not tested enough (or at all). The rules are inconsistent and contradictory. And OP and Rose Bailey cheated the backers with this game. There's not a even a community to try to figure out the game and do something with the good parts (I guess they're but I lost the hope and patience to find them). I would like to time travel to don’t support this game. I made the mistake of trusting OP. This won’t happen again.

Hi, Matias! To answer your questions:

1) The Pistoleer Talent is in error. It should read:

"You may spend a stunt die to reload rather than waiting until the break phase."

That means that you can use a stunt die to reload and attack again with the weapon.

2) Most weapons do 1 damage, as described in the Combat section. You can use the equipment table to approximate anything else you need.

3) Most large animals are viable mounts for cavaliers, as are large objects in general. The bestiary includes several.

I was interested in this game, then I looked into the handling of your posts and I have to say I was disappointing. Being attacked for using public forums and being called mentally unstable and a stalker by people very obviously white knighting was just sad. The community for this game is toxic and I'm glad I didn't get involved.

DEIMOS is a new set of rules for the setting. I'd call it medium complexity, on the same level as Cortex Plus or Cinematic Unisystem.

For most situations, you have traits rated in stepped dice: motivations like For Self and For Love, methods like With Grace and With Force, and careers like Priest and Cavalier. You roll them as a pool, then add the highest two together.

For combat, you use a "hand" of 10-sided dice in different colors for strikes, parries, and stunts. Everyone rolls their dice, and then the GM counts down from 10. When the number hits one of your dice, you get to act.

Crafting under pressure is similar to combat, with different dice representing different actions.

There are also systems for psychic powers and astrology.
