D100 City Hooks, Fantasy RPG Encounter Ideas
by Badger B.
Publisher: Philip Reed Games
Date Added: 04/19/2024 04:48:00
pixel_trans.gif D100 City Hooks, Fantasy RPG Encounter Ideas What is this? Well its a d100 table to be sure. Why should I review it? well lets look at the first 4 entries on page 2. 1 A cry from a nearby alley catches the attention of the heroes. If the party investigates, they find a wounded town guard who begs for their help. The man, near-death, claims that he and his fellows were chasing Goran Ivanisevic, a known thief who is wanted for questioning in the murder of a councilman. The guard points to one of the many doors facing the alley and says that Goran is inside. “Careful,” the guard whispers as he collapses. “The man is armed and more dangerous than ye may think.” Will the PCs try to locate and capture the thief? Their thoughts on the matter may change when the guard mentions that there is a reward for the capture of the criminal. Alive. 2 The wizardess Lloreta de las Alas has long made the city her home, residing in the same boarding house for well over a decade. Lloreta occupies the top floor of a three-story home in the city’s m...

pixel_trans.gif Foam and Fortune: Adventures In Soap Scum Cove A fun pirate adventure set in the Mwangi Expanse. Has treasure maps, jungles, mysterious ruins, your own ship, and even some hexploration. Good adventure if you want something longer than a one-shot but not as huge a commitment as one of the adventure paths.

Shadowcraft

pixel_trans.gif Shadowcraft I really like this and I think it fits perfectly for an arcane shadow type rogue, maybe for city adventures like Sharn in Savage Eberron, or even as a repeating baddie for something like the City Guard Chronicles.

Grimdark Future World Book
by David H.
Publisher: onepagerules
Date Added: 04/18/2024 16:32:22
pixel_trans.gif Grimdark Future World Book I would like to start this review by considering the benefits of lore in a war game. Lore increases your connection to your army by giving you the option of making something thematic based on the setting of your game as well as context for your army. Lore also can inspire you to create homebrews and kitbashes for your army based on what you know and give you an idea of where your army stands in the narrative and what they are looking to accomplish. Most importantly I think lore creates restraints on your imagination by restrincting you to create something in line with what the setting is and through restrictions the imagination thrives the most. Of course lore can be ignored and you can do what you will but I would assume if you are reading a review for a lore book you are also hoping to follow it so with that said on to the review. The first 3rd of the book goes into the history of both humanity and the Sirius Sector where the setting takes place. The majority of the information ca...

Blade Runner RPG Fiery Angels
by Alexander
Publisher: Free League Publishing
Date Added: 04/18/2024 14:30:08
pixel_trans.gif Blade Runner RPG Fiery Angels I think that this Case is not as good as the one in the Starter Set. Without really spoiling too much I can only say, that there are some questionable choices on the side of the villains in this one and one "surprise" is just pretty lame I feel like. But what really irks me in this one is the design of the PDFs you get when you buy it. Because they are just not suitable for use with VTTs for example. Unless you want to show everyone your real name, because of the watermark. Also the Map PDF could really use one without notations and the background. All the maps look kinda noisy and that is because of the background you have to get rid of. All the Mugshots have the watermark in such a way, that it is going right into the text of the Name. I feel like this could easily be avoided for the publisher but maybe it is a good way to sell their VTT produict of the case. I can still recomment the whole case but know that u will have some work when you want to use it in VTT and make it look good...

pixel_trans.gif ShadowSun A replica of Dark Sun modernized with 5e. A world of extreme conditions with hope from below ground by dungeoneering gold, magic and water resources. Cheaper version of the original Shadowdark hardback that helps to alleviate the cost of Shadowdark. When Shadowdark can be purchased at this price, I'm in!

Scion Second Edition Book One: Origin
by Dominik
Publisher: Onyx Path Publishing
Date Added: 04/18/2024 12:13:20
pixel_trans.gif Scion Second Edition Book One: Origin It's a solid game from this publisher with two buts that make if 4-star instead of 5. First one has to do with the fact that even if it's very much a fully usable game, I was left thinking that Book Two is where the fun is at. So it leaves you wanting more but in this weird mixture of excited anticipation with a shade of disappointment. The other thing is art which, like in many OPP books in my opinion, is fairly uneven. The majority of pieces are great but some simply stick out as less rendered. This doesn't affect the game but is - to me - noticeable....

The Terminator RPG: T2 - Resist

pixel_trans.gif The Terminator RPG: T2 - Resist Several major typos, including the *entire* table of contents being out by one page, persisted into the print version without being caught. How nobody thought to check that the page numbers were correct is mystifying. A terrible shame, because otherwise the book's content is very well done.

Book of Schemes
by Leon
Publisher: Design Mechanism
Date Added: 04/18/2024 11:08:18
pixel_trans.gif Book of Schemes Whether a Mythras fan or not this is a great book for those interested in running games with a more ‘Lies of Locke Lamora’ schemes and plots style game. The setting is a solid and at a minimum a great platform for hanging these sort of games with lots of hooks and adventure suggestions throughout the text. I’m quite fond of it but tastes will naturally vary. If you are a Mythras fan the book contains a wealth of new options for equipment, combat, sorcery and animism. It’s also a natural partner to the Factions book. For me this book joins the ever idolised Monster Island as a Mythras no brainer....
