Lovecraft and his friends were on to something.  But here's the REAL story...

Stalkers of the Elder Dark is a rules-lite game of cosmic horror set in the pulp era and pitting a motley assortment of academics and artists, criminals and explorers against ancient and powerful things from beyond the Void.  These are complete rules for horrific narratives and include the following in Olde House Rules' style:

Simple, yet detailed, rules for creating and equipping characters suitable to the period and genre...

A unique phobia system where the characters must overcome (or work around) their greatest fears while fighting for their lives.  Worse than dying, they may have to go on living...

But not necessarily life as they knew it!  So beware the Servitor Races and their dark designs...

Cosmic horrors, elder plots, and weird science all spelled out in detail while still leaving much for the Watcher to flesh out on their own.  The game gets into everyone's head...

And, of course, simple and intuitive mechanics that don't get in the way of the action.  Or the cosmic fear...

Hard times await these stalkers of the dark, for nothing less than human survival is at stake.  Let's hope they make it and hold on to their precious humanity lest Earth become a place of unspeakable horror!

The way you've labeled your tables is very odd--you have the title of the table UNDER the table itself. That is fairly confusing and opposite how tables are typically labelled.

I bring it up 1) to give fair warning to others so they don't spend time scratching their heads like I did, and 2) to request the author possibly shift those labels to the top of the table.

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
