Reach Adventure 4: Last Flight of the Amuar

ADD TO WISHLIST >

In Reach Adventure 4: Last Flight of the Amuar, a Leviathan-class merchant cruiser was engaged in an exploratory trade cruise into the so-called Outrim Void, a region of sparse star systems just over the border from Imperial space. Long-range merchant cruisers were built for regions like this, and have been successful. However, there have been losses too. Among them was the Amuar, which ‘went Outrim’ as the saying goes. She is long overdue, presumed lost, and has not been located by a search of the trans-border worlds.

The Travellers are engaged by a relative of one of Amuar’s crew, who has an idea of where she might have been headed. What was the fate of the Amuar and her crew, and can either be recovered?

This adventure takes place in Egryn and Pax Rulin subsectors of the Trojan Reach sector, and would make an excellent introduction to this region’s many adventuring possibilities. Almost any group of Travellers will be suitable for this adventure, though they will need to be able to operate their starship or have suitable crew available to do it for them.

Reach Adventure 4: Last Flight of the Amuar contains background information on the Senlis Foederate and Belgardian Sojurnate, both pocket empires within the Trojan Reach, along with a detailed view of Leviathan-class merchant cruisers, and the Lancer-class corvette.

PURCHASER
I mentioned the "Crew Fatigue" rules introduced in this module.

I've always tried to have a sort of "living conditions on the ship" rule in my campaign. I mostly do this by taking the 1,000Cr "life support" cost per person (pg154 Core) and substitute the standard of living cost (pg98 Core). So, 1,000Cr is SOC5 and a very high SOC10 lifestyle would cost 2,500Cr per person per month in addition to the 1,000Cr per stateroom cost. I limit how high this is effective based on the associated room (SOC12 living with a cot on the floor of the cargo bay is not a "thing" and a SOC5 luxury state room is NOT a luxury state room). And the bonus should be the difference between the person's SOC and the living standard. This would fit in nicely with the Crew Fatigue rules where every 2 steps above/below the passenger/crew-person's living standard would give a +/-1DM. Anyway, I'm not sure I'm crazy about the way they implemented this rule or why it's in this module instead...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
