I wish there was a decently priced print only option (doesn't help that exchange rate from Australia could be better). But pricing seems to assume you want PDF only or PDF + print.
Price for Tales of the Desolation in print is much better for around the same page count (though print + PDF is also less than for other books).
I love the game and really want to get a range of these books in print, but the current print only price is likely to put some potential customers off, which is a pity considering it deserves great success.

The cost difference in producing a PDF and a print book is negligible. The price for art, editing, layout, proofreading, etc doesn't change based on the medium the product appears. So if you're unhappy with the cost of a printed version of this book, it is because you are unhappy with getting a great product.

By demanding a lower price, you are demanding that all the people involved with making this great book make less money, and by extension you are demanding that less work be put into making RPG books. Sorry you hate quality.

FWIW as a New Zealander, DTRPG POD prove a competitive price to buying retail overseas as the shipping rate is very low (I think they print and ship from Australia). This also makes delivery times very quick. Take another look at the total price with shipping (especially when combined with other PODs) and you may not be as bad as you think.

Cecil H, you BEGAN your response with, at BEST a subjective opinion...at worst, a patently false statement, that fails to take into account the cost to print and ship the print book.

The work done on writing, editing and illustrating the book obviously needs to be recouped...at the same time, unless this is all done by one person, those are SET amounts that have been paid during production. Once they are recouped, the extra cost for a PDF vs a print book doesn't somehow give MORE compensation to a writer or artist. The profit goes to the publisher.

The logic behind asking for a lower price point on non-physical media is sound, and also makes the assumption that lower cost will usually translate to higher sales to more people who are curious but don't like the high cost on a product they haven't seen yet.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
